The Stakeholders Foundation

The Stakeholders Foundation was founded in 2008 by several Capital Region Gen Xers and will provide a vital source of Next Generation grants and financial support to The Stakeholders, Inc. a non-profit corporation whose mission is to cultivate an informed and active creative class dedicated to building diverse and sustainable communities throughout New York’s Capital Region. We seek to retain and attract residents, workers and visitors and foster regional pride by connecting individuals with area resources and providing enrichment through arts & culture, civic engagement, adaptive reuse projects and charitable giving.

The Stakeholders Foundation will provide a conduit through which members of the Capital Region Community can invest in a sustainable future of for the Capital Region.

The Foundation will serve as the fundraising arm of The Stakeholders Inc. universe, soliciting contributions from public and private sources. Funds raised by The Stakeholders Foundation will be utilized to:

• Support the Mission and programs of The Stakeholders, inc.
• Provide grants to community-based not-for-profit organizations that provide services in one of The Stakeholders Inc.’s focus areas (Adaptive Reuse, Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement and Environmental Sustainability);
• Fund the young Philanthropists Institute; and
• Create an Endowment Fund – held by the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region – that will allow The Stakeholders Inc.’s programs and initiatives to operate in perpetuity;

The Stakeholders challenges 500 Young Philanthropists to donate $100 or more in order to create a financial pool from which to administer the next generation of grants to the community.
